PDE - Frequently asked questions

Is this is "real" qualification?

Yes, the Personal Development and Employability Skills from the Prince's Trust is a regulated qualification on the RQF framework. The Prince's Trust is recognised by the qualification regulators in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland to develop, offer and award qualifications. Wiltshire Exam Centre is an approved centre with the Prince's Trust.

Is it equivalent to gcse/igcse?

We are currently unaware of any instances where this qualification has/would be accepted in place of a GCSE (for instance, for college entry) therefore it should not be treated as such. However, it IS a qualification and the level 2 Certificate is comparable in difficulty to a GCSE - in fact it is actually larger in "size", with the Guided Learning Hours (GLH) at 201. A typical GCSE has a GLH of around 120-140.

Can I change my units?

Yes, you can! If you have have not yet made a start on a particular unit - so have not had support or feedback for it - then you are welcome to change your mind and there is no charge made for doing so. We simply swap the workbooks in your folder for the new choice/s.

Can reasonable adjustments be used?

Yes and it is positively encouraged when required. These qualifications are designed to be as inclusive as possible but we do recognise, along with PTQ, that not all activities are suitable or accessible for all learners. Whilst the assessment criteria must always be met, we work with learners to ensure they are comfortable with what they need to do and are fully open to adjustments as required.
